Allit AG Kunststofftechnik
24 We keep records of everything. And you reap the benefits. It is for good reason that we operate our own machine tools in the factory, for example 3D milling cutters that can be controlled on five different axes as they operate. Among their favourite tasks is milling at an oblique angle, describing a curve, then tilting through 65°. The data volumes needed for these actions alone are as massive as the machines are expen- sive. However, they are worth every penny: we are after all a manufacturer – and we have to convince our customers of the accuracy and reliability of our products. Understandably, it is our customers in health-related sectors such as pharmaceuticals, filter technology and the drinks industry who are particularly sensitive to such matters, and they rightly demand absolute transparency and process control in order to safeguard both themselves and the product. Accordingly, our processes are subject to per- manent monitoring and, wherever necessary, validation. For example, the precise details of every working step in a machining centre, however small, are recorded electronically and stored with the processing order so as to verify that the machine does indeed manu- facture each part exactly as desired during the production process. And the same goes for the filter module ultrasound welding process, where inaccuracy of a single millimetre could have fatal consequences. State-of-the-art machines whir, grind, rotate, mill and do many wondrous things that save us a lot of labour, and they do it all with unrivalled accuracy.
