Allit AG: New factory buildings enable further growth and smart process optimisation

Allit AG has had a steadily rising line of development for many years and is thus in urgent need of more space in order to continue on its course of organic growth. This requirement will be met by two new production halls (workshops) whose shell has been inaugurated after only six months of construction work – concurrently with the 50-year entrepreneurship anniversary of Allit’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Hans Kallinowsky.

The owners of the family-run enterprise have invested around five million Euros into the new building structure erected on the corporate premises “Rotlay-Mühle”, a location situated in the North-East of the town of Bad Kreuznach. Especially three areas of business will profit from the construction project, which is considered to be by far the largest in Allit’s 53-year-old history: The ground floor in Hall 14 as well as the warehouse in Hall 12b are intended to accommodate the continuously growing joint venture Pall Modultechnik GmbH, manufacturer of special high-quality filters. The first floor of Hall 14 will house the production facilities of Allit AG Kunststofftechnik as Allit AG intends to relocate to Bad Kreuznach three product lines currently manufactured in the Far East and in Eastern Europe, respectively. Two of these product lines are Allit’s high-quality “VarioPlus Small Parts Cabinets” made of metal and plastic material. Nearly 1300 square metres of freed-up space will allow implementation of further optimisation processes in manufacturing and assembly by means of internal relocations. These enhancement measures will materialise over the coming twelve to eighteen months. The newly created space will enable even better and more streamlined working practices in manufacturing and assembly so as to perfectly meet the requirements of the relevant EC Directives expected to come into force. Furthermore, new machinery will be installed with a view to creating sufficient production capacity to meet future needs. This will also ensure that customers’ growing demands in terms of production quality will be reliably met. Allit’s Board of Directors expects to create up to 15 new jobs over the next two years.

The two new halls offer a total of 5160 square metres of net floor space and 36,340 cubic metres of gross floor space. The warehouse installed in Hall 12b measures 700 square metres and is equipped with a wheeled and thus mobile racking system capable of accommodating a total of 1500 Euro pallets. This warehouse will contribute to optimising logistical processes on the corporate premises. A glass-framed conveyor bridge will provide an impressive view of the products travelling to their downstream production stations. The new loading station can be reached via a newly built lorry driveway arranged around the new buildings. At the same time, a parking and turning area for heavy lorries will be created. This will significantly alleviate the traffic situation in the front area of the corporate premises. These construction measures are expected to be completed in early May.

Like most of the other Allit buildings, the roof of the two new halls will be equipped with a photovoltaic installation that will produce up to 320,000 kilowatt-hours of solar power per year. This will allow to generate part of the energy required in manufacturing in an environmentally sound way – an important prerequisite for obtaining the energy efficiency certification in accordance with DIN ISO 50001. “This installation will definitely pay for itself”, confirms Chairman of the Board of Directors Hans Kallinowsky. And member of the Board of Directors Jochen Kallinowsky adds that over the past years Allit AG has attained 15 percent growth without a considerably increased need for additional energy.

Allit’s Board of Directors is looking with confidence into the near future. The expectation is that the still favourable interest rate level in conjunction with improved investments in the national and international arena will further stimulate the German economy so that the benign growth outlook will materialise.
